Ice Racing

I had fun this last weekend. I got to cover the ice races at Brighton Speedway. This is what I want to do for a living. It was fun to watch the 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, and cars slide around the track (and into each other). It was also very cold. Hopefully I can shoot more races. This is what makes me excited to become a journalist.

Home Again

I need to keep up with updating this. I went home last weekend. Eddie came back from Alberta, so I took the train back so I could meet up with him. It was a good weekend. I also got to give my car another drive. We put it away in the barn. It will be a little while till it is on the road. I can’t wait for that. Other than that, school is keeping me pretty busy. The final semester…..

The Car

New Car

I am currently very excited. Heather and I have bought our first car. Technically, this is my fourth car, but the last three had an collective value of $250 and none were road legal. So this is my first real car. It is a 1998 Honda Civic Lx, four door, with a 5-speed. It is in quite good shape. I have been actively looking for a car since I finished tree-planting in August. I need one for my placement which will be for the month of April, and then for whatever jobs after that. Due to the high cost of insurance, I will not be insuring it for road use until I turn 21 in February. Even then, I am unsure of exactly when I will put in on the road. But I am very excited.

Birthday

Happy birthday Heather! I am now engaged to an older woman, a full year older. 21 is getting up there.

Back to School

I am back at school now. With my high-speed internet here, I will be updating more often. Christmas went well. My parents went to Croatia to visit my brother Dan for a while. I had the house and a car to myself, which was nice. We got some wedding planning done, but not as much as we would have liked. There was time to meet with friends and family and enjoy the time off school. I have taken full advantage of the massive Christmas meals, and even put on a few pounds. I ended up buying a camera over the holidays, as well as a telephoto lens. Now its time to get back to school.
